Breitling Aerospace 1985

In 1985, the Swiss watchmaking giant Breitling watches introduced for the first time the innovative Breitling Aerospace. The multifunctional quartz movement Breitling Aerospace timepiece featured a double display, analog and digital, with two liquid crystal display screens. Just with a single pull of the crown, you could control all the Breitling Aerospace options, including 12- or 24-hour time, second-time zone (UCT), alarm, and Day & Date.

Falling into Breitling’s Navitimer Collection, do not be surprised when you spot NAVITIMER engraved on the dial and casing on many Breitling Aerospace timepieces. You can prove the Breitling Aerospace authenticity by checking the dial and getting informed about the case construction material. If it is made of titanium and the movement corresponds with the Breitling movement reference numbers, most likely the watch is an authentic Breitling Aerospace. Many other models followed ever since to create the remarkable Breitling Aerospace collection. Newer models feature better movements, more functions, and better designs.

Breitling Aviator history

Breitling Aviator is the heart and the soul of revolutionary technology and the passion for conquering skies and space. Since the 19th century, powered by the absence of instruments in a plane’s dashboard, Breitling watches were highly preferred by pilots worldwide, considered as one of the only instruments they could rely on at the time.

Years passed and the Breitling’s future was in the hands of Willy Breitling, the grandson of Léon Breitling, the founder of the Swiss-made timepieces. He took a steeping milestone for Breitling when achieved to supply chronograph instruments for plane dashboards. The accuracy and innovation of Breitling’s chronographs were the finest examples of Breitling’s third generation as it became the official supplier of (RAF) Britain’s Royal Airforce.

The history of Breitling Aviator continued when they manufactured the iconic Breitling Navitimer, a cult object within the aviation community. Navitimer became the first chronograph watch to travel into outer space when Scott Carpenter requested a custom made 24-hour Navitimer wear on the Mercury-Atlas 7 mission.

In 1979, the Breitling brand and all the assets were sold to the pilot and microelectronics specialist – Ernest Schneider. He followed the roots of Breitling tradition with the skies and managed to design Breitling’s most sold model – the Breitling Chronomat. A mechanical chronograph that was first worn from the elite flight squad of Italy – the Frecce Tricolori and later from countless pilots worldwide.

Breitling watches Heritage

In 1884, a skilled craftsman named Léon Breitling opened a small watch shop in Saint Imier, located in the French-speaking zone of North Switzerland. Besides watch repair, Léon was highly focused on crafting measuring intelligent devices too. The word spread quickly and the innovative designs of chronographs and measuring tools crafted from the hands of Léon Breitling invaded the world.

Focused on chronographs, Leon Breitling understood the industry demands for measuring devices for military, athletic organizations, and scientific applications so in 1889 he took the next step of his watchmaking initiative by launching a simplified chronograph, very useful for the time.

Many years passed ever since, and Breitling is going stronger than ever. Breitling is a synonym for accuracy, sleek designs, and crème de la crème of luxury watches. After Léon Breitling’s death, the family business was inherited by his son, Gaston. Following his father’s path and characterized by an unstoppable passion for chronographs, in 1915, Gaston Breitling introduced the world’s first innovative wrist chronograph with a separate push-piece.

In the following years, Breitling flew under the radar until 1952, when they released the iconic innovative – the precious Breitling Navitimer. Carrying the flight-specific slide regulation, it is no wonder that many airlines, pilots, and almost the whole aircraft industry choose Breitling. Ever since, Breitling watches are seen flying over the clouds, delivering the most possible accuracy for pilots.
